Settings: Customize Your CRM Setup

A walkthrough of the Customize page in Settings, covering object display names, fields, layouts, pipelines, tasks, and general account settings.

Written by VipeCloud Support

The Customize page in Settings is where admins control how VipeCloud is labeled and organized across the entire account. You can rename CRM objects to match your business terminology, manage fields and layouts, configure pipelines, and adjust general display settings like your sidebar and account logo.

To access: go to Settings and click Customize under the Account section.

Objects

The Objects section contains settings for each of VipeCloud's core CRM objects: Contact, Opportunity, Account, Estimate, and Tasks. Click any object name to expand its settings.

For Contact, Opportunity, and Account, expanding the object reveals three options:

  • Display Name - rename the object across the entire account

  • Fields - link to the fields configuration page for that object

  • Layout - link to the layout configuration page for that object

For Estimate, expanding reveals Display Name only. For Tasks, expanding reveals Task Types and Task Settings.

How to Rename a CRM Object

VipeCloud lets you replace default object names with terminology that fits your business. The selected name applies everywhere in the UI for all users on your account.

  1. Go to Settings and click Customize.

  2. Click the object you want to rename to expand it.

  3. Click the Display Name dropdown.

  4. Select a name from the list.

Changes save automatically when you select a name. No save button is required.

Available Display Names by Object

Each object has a fixed list of available names. You cannot enter a custom value - you must choose from the options provided. If you need a name that is not listed, contact support via the chat widget.

  • Contact: Contact (default), Lead, Prospect, Candidate, Member, Client, Customer

  • Opportunity: Opportunity (default), Deal, Project, Property, Job, Application

  • Account: Account (default), Brand, Company, Organization, Location, Unit, Territory, Franchisee

  • Estimate: Estimate (default), Quote, Proposal

How to Access Custom Fields and Layouts

Each CRM object (Contact, Opportunity, and Account) has two configuration links that appear when you expand it:

  • Fields - opens the Custom Fields page for that object, where you can add new fields, edit standard fields, and manage field settings. See Custom Fields 101 for a full walkthrough.

  • Layout - control which fields are visible on the record view and in what order. See Customizable Item Layouts for details.

If you're trying to add or edit a custom field, expand the object it belongs to and click Fields.

Pipelines

The Opportunity object also includes a Pipelines section. This is where you create and manage the pipelines used to track opportunities through your sales or review process. Each pipeline can have its own stages.

  1. Expand Opportunity.

  2. Scroll to the Pipelines section.

  3. Enter a name in the New Pipeline Name field and click Add Pipeline to create one.

  4. Use the edit and delete icons next to each pipeline to rename or remove it.

Tasks

The Tasks object does not have a display name option. Expanding it reveals two settings:

  • Task Types - the categories available when creating a task (for example: Call, Email, To Do, Note). You can add custom types or remove ones you do not use.

  • Task Settings - controls whether you receive an alert when another user assigns a task to you. Set to Yes or No.

General Settings

Sidebar Layout

Controls which items appear in the left navigation bar and in what order. You can show, hide, or reorder sections to match how your team works. See Customize Your Sidebar for a full walkthrough.

Tags

Tags are personal labels you can apply to contacts for your own organization. This section is where you add, edit, or remove the tags available in your account. Tags are user-scoped and do not affect other users.

Account Logo & Business Type

Upload your logo here to display it in the upper right corner of your VipeCloud account. The logo also appears in a few other places, including video landing pages.

Business Type is relevant for FSE (Franchise Sales Engine) users. If you selected the wrong business type during initial setup, you can correct it here by toggling between Consultant and Brand.
