How to Pause or Resume a Mass Text

How to pause a mass text that is still sending, resume a paused mass text, and find out why a mass text paused on its own.

Written by VipeCloud Support

You can pause a mass text while it's still sending and resume it later from the Mass Texts page. Texts to lists go out at about one every five seconds, so a large mass text can take a while to finish.

How to Pause a Mass Text

  1. Click Communication in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Text.

  3. Click Mass Texts.

  4. Find the mass text marked In Progress.

  5. Click the pause button next to In Progress.

The row changes to Paused. Texts that already went out stay sent, and no more go out until you resume the mass text.

How to Resume a Paused Mass Text

  1. On the Mass Texts page, find the mass text marked Paused.

  2. Click the play button next to Paused.

The row changes back to In Progress and sending starts again right away. Sending continues with the contacts who haven't received the text yet, so no one gets it twice.

Why Is My Mass Text Paused When I Didn't Pause It?

VipeCloud pauses a mass text on its own in two cases, and shows a red badge next to Paused that says why.

  • No Credits. Add More. - your account ran out of text credits. Click the badge to open Text Settings and add credits, then click the play button to resume.

  • Texas SB-140 Time Restraints Hit - sending stopped because Texas law limits the times you can text Texas numbers. Click the badge to read about the rule.

Key Notes

  • Only a mass text that is still sending has a pause button. A finished mass text shows Completed.

  • Each row shows how many texts have gone out so far, such as "120/500 sent."

  • Pausing doesn't change who the mass text goes to or what it says.

  • A scheduled mass text that hasn't started yet is managed on the Scheduled Texts page. See How to View and Manage Scheduled Emails and Texts.
