What This Does
The AI Contact Research Agent automatically searches the web - including LinkedIn and company pages - to find publicly available information about your contacts and update their records. It's useful for filling in missing details on new contacts, enriching records from inbound leads, and saving time on manual research.
Accuracy depends on how much identifying information is already on the contact record. The agent performs better on contacts with unique names or additional data points like a company domain or title. A contact with a common name and a personal email address may return limited or no results.
There is a 90-day cooldown between research attempts on the same contact.
How to Set Up Automated Contact Research
The recommended setup is an automation that triggers research when a new contact enters your account.
Click Automations in the left sidebar.
Click Create.
Choose a trigger. Recommended triggers:
Sign up form completion (e.g., a contact us form on your website)
Scheduler booked (useful if your scheduler is publicly accessible, such as on LinkedIn)
Email parsed
Choose Action and select AI Contact Research.
Configure the settings for your needs.
Save the automation.
How to Manually Research a Contact
To run research on a single contact:
Open the contact record.
Click More.
Click Research Contact.
How to View Research Results
Research results appear in several places on the contact record.
Open the contact record.
Click the AI Researched button below the contact's name to open the Field Updates panel.
The panel shows each field with its old value, new value, and confidence level.
Fields the agent is confident about are applied automatically and show a Revert button if you want to undo them.
Fields below the confidence threshold are listed separately under a "Not enough confidence to apply automatically" notice. Each has an Apply button so you can add them individually.
To undo all changes at once, click Revert All at the bottom of the panel.
Fields updated by the agent display an AI badge in the contact details panel. Click the badge to reopen the Field Updates panel.
An AI research note is added to the Notes section of the contact record.
If you configured the automation to log a completed task, it will appear in the Recent Engagement section.
How to View All Researched Contacts
Click Vipe AI in the left sidebar.
Click Contact Research.
The Researched Contacts table shows each contact with the date research was run, how it was triggered (Automation or Manual), the number of fields updated and suggested, and the research status. If you configured a task to be logged, a View Task link appears in the Fields / Task column.
Key Notes
The agent searches publicly available sources, including LinkedIn and company pages.
High-confidence fields are applied automatically. Medium and low-confidence fields require manual approval.
Research accuracy improves when the contact record already includes additional data points such as a company name, domain, or job title.
There is a 90-day cooldown before the same contact can be researched again.
You can revert any field update individually, or revert all changes at once from the AI Researched summary.
