How to Livestream Into Suites and Parties With Streamyard, Zoom, and YouTube

Livestreaming puts a live or pre-recorded YouTube stream inside a Suite or Party post. Here you'll learn how to get your YouTube channel ready, create the stream link in Streamyard or Zoom, and post it for your guests.

Written by VipeCloud Support

You can livestream into a Suite or Party by posting a YouTube livestream link in its feed, and guests watch the stream inside the post. Streamyard or Zoom produces the broadcast and sends it to YouTube, and YouTube gives you the link you post in VipeCloud.

How to Get Your YouTube Channel Ready for Livestreaming

YouTube only lets a livestream play inside another site, such as a Suite, when your channel has its advanced features turned on. Without them, the link you post won't play. Check this a few days before your first livestream, because YouTube can take a day or more to approve a verification.

  1. In YouTube Studio, click Settings.

  2. Click Channel.

  3. Click Feature eligibility.

  4. Confirm that Intermediate features and Advanced features are both enabled.

  5. If advanced features are not enabled, follow YouTube's prompts to qualify through your channel history, a video verification, or a valid ID.

How to Create a Livestream Link With Streamyard

We recommend Streamyard for most livestreams. It schedules the stream on YouTube ahead of time, so you have the link before you go live and can post it in your Suite or Party in advance. It can also broadcast a video you recorded earlier. YouTube only creates the scheduled stream, and its link, when you check Schedule an announcement.

  1. In Streamyard, click Live stream.

  2. To broadcast a video you recorded ahead of time, choose Pre-recorded video as the source and select the video.

  3. Select your YouTube channel as the destination, or add it as a new destination.

  4. Enter the title for the YouTube video.

  5. Select the privacy setting.

  6. Schedule the stream for the date and time of your event.

  7. Check Schedule an announcement and set an announcement post time a few minutes in the future.

  8. Click Create live stream.

  9. On the upcoming stream, click the three-dot menu.

  10. Click View on YouTube.

  11. On YouTube, click Share and copy the link.

On the day of a live (not pre-recorded) stream, enter the Streamyard studio at least 15 minutes early, add yourself to the stage, and start the broadcast from the studio. The stream doesn't start or end on its own. Streamyard's own steps are in Schedule a YouTube Live Stream and Pre-recorded Streaming.

How to Create a Livestream Link With Zoom

Zoom can stream a meeting to YouTube, but it can't stream a pre-recorded video or create the YouTube stream ahead of time. The link only exists once you're live, so you post it in your Suite or Party in real time. Livestreaming from Zoom requires a paid Zoom account.

Turn On Livestreaming in Zoom

You do this once, on the Zoom website rather than in the Zoom app.

  1. Sign in at zoom.us and click Settings.

  2. Click the Meeting tab.

  3. Under In Meeting (Advanced), turn on Allow livestreaming of meetings.

  4. Check YouTube.

  5. Click Save.

If the setting isn't there, your Zoom account is probably not a paid account.

Go Live on YouTube From a Zoom Meeting

Start the meeting at the time you told your guests the livestream begins, since the link doesn't exist until you go live.

  1. In the Zoom app, start your meeting.

  2. Click More.

  3. Click Live on YouTube.

  4. Sign in to your YouTube channel.

  5. Enter the title for the YouTube video.

  6. Select the privacy setting.

  7. Click Go Live.

  8. When the stream opens on YouTube, click Share and copy the link.

How to Post a Livestream in a Suite or Party

Guests watch the livestream inside the post, so they don't leave the Suite or Party to tune in. With Streamyard you can post the link ahead of time. With Zoom, post it right after you go live.

  1. In the left sidebar, click Community.

  2. Click Suites.

  3. Click Suites or Parties.

  4. Open the Suite or Party.

  5. Click inside the Create a new post field at the top of the feed.

  6. Type a line about the livestream, then paste the YouTube link and add a space after it so the video preview generates.

  7. Click Post.

  8. Refresh the page to show the video player in the post.

For a Party that runs from a post sequence, each livestream has its own link, so leave the link out of the sequence and add it to the livestream post after you launch the Party. The post then goes out with the link on schedule. See How to Create, Launch, and Share Social Sequences for changing a sequence after launch, and Suites and Parties: Overview and Getting Started for more on posting.

Key Notes

  • YouTube links in youtube.com/watch, youtube.com/live, youtube.com/shorts, and youtu.be formats all play inside a Suite or Party post.

  • Zoom notes a delay of about 20 seconds between the meeting and the YouTube stream.

  • Do a test livestream before the real event, especially with Zoom, where going live and posting the link happen in real time.

  • Streamyard, Zoom, and YouTube are third-party tools. We can help with the VipeCloud side, and each tool's help center covers its own screens.
