Learn how to transform your VipeCloud sign-up forms into versatile survey tools for collecting valuable feedback. This guide covers setting up survey forms, using Likert scales for visual ratings, and hiding email fields to streamline responses while ensuring accurate data collection. Follow the step-by-step instructions to create effective, user-friendly surveys that provide actionable insights for your business.

Like described in the video, to hide the email field from the survey, toggle the “Hide email field if email already exists” option in the email "Edit Display" settings. Then, append the code below to the end of your form’s URL:

?email=%EMAIL%

For instance, a sign up form with the landing page of https://vipelnk.com/xxxxxx would become https://vipelnk.com/xxxxxx?email=%EMAIL%

Things to note:

  • You can use short or long landing page links

  • You must send the form via VipeCloud for the link to work

  • If you email a contact through VipeCloud but they are not a contact in your account, they'll be able to open the link but the email field will appear to them.

00:00 Hello everybody, my name is Drew, and today we're going to be talking about an enhancement to our sign-up forms that allows you to use them for surveys, Likert scales, or any kind of feedback you might want to collect from your audience in a nice form.
00:24 It's a convenient way. This enhancement is specifically for the drop-down fields in our sign-up forms, which you can use for feedback collection, measuring satisfaction, gathering insights, and generating reviews.
00:42 There are three stages to this live edit. First, we'll show you how to set up a survey form.
00:55 Then, we'll show you how to hide the email field from the surveys you send to users, so the data will be automatically collected by VipeCloud, but the recipient won't see the email field.
01:12 Finally, we'll demo what it looks like to send a survey out and collect a response.

01:25 Let's start by setting this up. Go to your sign-up forms under Automations.
01:36 I've already got a customer survey form ready here, so let's click on that.
01:50 This is a very minimal setup to show you how simple it can be.
01:56 We have one field for email, which you always want to collect. Now we'll create a drop-down field. You can see it says drop-down/Likert scale.
02:13 Give it a name that will be visible to users. You can auto-create 1 through 5 or 1 through 10 options, like a star rating. Let's do 1 through 5 for simplicity.
02:34 These options are automatically created, but you can add custom options as well. Save and edit the display.
02:55 Now, in the field display settings, choose the drop-down option. This will create a standard drop-down where users can select 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.
03:13 Alternatively, choose Likert scale for a more dynamic, visual display. You can select buttons, stars, or emojis and customize colors and styles.
03:37 Note that smileys work with three or five options. Since we chose five, smileys are available. Let's go with buttons and choose green. You can also add beginning and end labels to guide users.
04:08 Save the form, and hit the preview button to see what we've built.
04:19 Right now, it’s still asking for an email, but I'll show you how to hide that and have it filled dynamically. Users can now indicate how likely they are to recommend us using the Likert scale.
04:43 For many use cases, you’re set here. You can send this to people and collect responses.

05:12 Now, let's move on to hiding the email field. There are several reasons to do this.
05:37 When sending a survey, fewer questions increase response rates. Asking for an email unnecessarily reduces responses.
05:47 Also, this ensures the email matches what’s in your CRM, avoiding duplicate contacts.
06:16 It makes users feel more anonymous, encouraging honest feedback. It also reduces errors like typos in email addresses.
07:25 To hide the email field, click on the email field's edit display option. Toggle "Hide email field if email already exists."
07:58 Next, append ?email=%email% to the end of your form’s URL.
08:15 This little bit of code ensures the email is pre-filled automatically. A visual guide will be included in the help article accompanying this video.
08:28 Copy the provided code snippet and add it to the end of your sign-up form URL.
09:01 Here’s an example: add the code to the landing page link. I’ve created a template that demonstrates this visually.
09:12 Hit the plus button, add the email field, and select the survey template. Send the form to yourself.
09:31 Now you can see the link to the sign-up form with that little bit of code at the end.
09:41 This is displayed in raw form here, but you can hyperlink it so it looks nice and clean. The hyperlink address is what we see here.
09:57 Let's send this to myself quickly.
10:11 Here's the email I just received. Click the link to fill out the survey, and look at that—it doesn’t ask for the email address because it already knows it.
10:29 I'm able to answer a quick and easy survey. Let's submit that, and there we go.
10:44 You can see there's a sign-up for our customer survey. Jump into the sign-ups, and there we go. We can see the response that came through.
10:54 It's tied to the correct contact, and we can see what the response was. As you can see, it's quick and easy to create a survey to send to your audience.
11:07 It’ll be painless for them to give feedback, and you’ll have valuable, actionable insights to use however you like.
11:18 One thing to note is that when using the method to hide the email address, you have to send the form through VipeCloud for it to work.
11:35 You can send the survey without that feature turned on however you like, and it’ll work fine as a regular sign-up form. If you want to mask the email address, send it through VipeCloud and follow the steps outlined earlier.
11:54 That’s everything I wanted to cover. We talked about setting up a survey sign-up form, using Likert features, and hiding email addresses from recipients.
12:15 Note that you can do this even without it being a survey. I hope this has been helpful and that you’ll be able to use this tool to improve your business.
12:31 Thank you so much.
